Specsavers is the UK’s most recognised optician. A British multinational optical retail chain. Employing over 38,000 people across 2,293 stores, as well as support offices and throughout the supply chain. The organisation operates mainly in the UK, Ireland, Australasia and the Nordic countries. I-Tel’s relationship with Specsavers stems back to 2008, where we first became recognised across the group for an innovative solution, savings opportunity, and potential to reduce the organisations environmental impact. Following a successful trail period, I-Tel were invited to a Specsavers stakeholders’ event to present its customised proposal. With over a decade of trading, the relationship has stood the test of time.
Waste that couldn’t be refurbished/reused was safely broken down into separate material components and manufactured into alternative products such as car parts, steel building structures, aluminium cans, marine paint, road surfacing, and colorant products. A zero-waste solution supportive of Specsavers CSR commitment whilst reducing costs by 35% for the business was a big win for everyone.
Significant cost reduction on consumable spend along with sustainable, eco-friendly services has meant I-Tel continue to enjoy a very productive relationship with Specsavers. Creating uniformity across the group and a track record of customer service excellence has enabled I-Tel to remain the first choice for Specsavers stores.
